CRANE MOBILE

A mobile crane is a type of crane mounted on a wheeled chassis or a crawler base, designed for easy mobility across different job sites. Unlike stationary cranes, which are fixed in one location (such as tower cranes), mobile cranes can travel on public roads and are used in various industries, including construction, shipping, and infrastructure projects. These cranes are versatile, able to lift heavy materials and move them across different terrains with ease.

Key Features of a Mobile Crane:
  1. Mobility: Mobile cranes are designed to be self-propelled, meaning they can move without the need for external transportation. Depending on the type, they can travel on wheels (wheeled mobile cranes) or tracks (crawler mobile cranes).
  2. Boom: Mobile cranes are equipped with a boom, which is a long arm that extends and raises to lift and move heavy loads. The boom may be telescoping (extendable) or fixed, depending on the crane model.
  3. Hydraulic System: Most mobile cranes operate using hydraulic power to lift, extend, and maneuver the boom. The hydraulic system allows the crane to handle heavy loads with precision and smooth movement.
  4. Rotating Base: Many mobile cranes have a rotating upper part (the “turntable” or “slewing” mechanism), allowing the crane to rotate 360 degrees to position the boom and load in different directions.
  5. Counterweights: To maintain stability when lifting heavy loads, mobile cranes are equipped with counterweights that balance the crane’s weight and prevent tipping.
  6. Outriggers (Stabilizers): Mobile cranes often have outriggers (extendable legs) that are deployed to stabilize the crane while lifting heavy loads. These outriggers provide additional support to keep the crane balanced during operation.
